Everyone this source names

This document prints 3 names. A name found this way is the weakest thing this site records: the book names the person, and nothing more is said. It is not a line in a record — the lines that actually rest on this source are listed above, each with its own confidence. 2 of the names below reach a record on this site; lines from this source have been written for 0. The rest are names and nothing else — which is an honest description of the evidence, and an invitation: if you know one of these makers, we want to hear from you.

  1. Eichelsdoerfer, John scan page 1719, line 15 mention only — no record here yet

Eichelsdoerfer John (violin mfr) 314 Lafayette — trade term as printed: "violin mfr" — from OCR (read_as: ocr)

  2. Katzier, Charles S scan page 930, line 52 draft record
  3. Eichelsbeefen, John scan page 681, line 20 draft record

Corrections

One correction has been made to what this record says. It is kept here so a reader can see that a line was wrong, when it was caught, and why it changed. Only a change to what the record says is logged — rewording a warning, restating how a document was read, or reflowing a paragraph is not a correction and does not appear.

  1. line corrected Places and dates of work

It said "Well, here is the translation on this bit of paper, as I wrote it down from Techler's dictation: 'This instrument is made by G. R., violin-maker at Erfurt, in the year 1786, strictly upon the model of A. S., Cremona.'" — trade term as printed: "violin-maker" — surname not established — the line carries a trade term but no surname resolves to it — from OCR (read_as: ocr)

It now says "Well, here is the translation on this bit of paper, as I wrote it down from Techler's dictation: 'This instrument is made by G. R., violin-maker at Erfurt, in the year 1786, strictly upon the model of A. S., Cremona.'"

Why No reason was recorded with this change.
