Read from the Google Books page images on 12 August 2026; the entry begins at the foot of p. 236 and ends on p. 237. Poidras compiled his contemporary American entries from what makers supplied about themselves. The entry reports a book — “has related the result of his researches in a book which has met with success in his own country” — that no other source on disk identifies. Its closing “N° 857” cross-references the label facsimile the seeding pass misread as “V. L. Schmidt”: the plate reads Schwenk, and no V. L. Schmidt entry exists in either Poidras volume.
