    5. Der Stammvater der Familie, der aus Graslitz nach Neukirchen übersiedelte und unter den Gründern der dortigen Zunft als »Johann Gottfriedt« angeführt wird. Es scheint also, daß die volkstümliche Form des Namens Gottfried (Götz, Götzel) allmählich zum Familiennamen geworden ist. Die Familie machte sich dann in Wernitzgrün seßhaft.
