STRADIVA'RI (STRADIVA'RIUS), Antonio. The most famous of vn. and 'cello makers; b. Cremona, 1649(50?); d. there 1737. Probably worked under N. Amati, abt. 1667-79. His finest insts. date from 1700 to 1725.
