What the books printed
British Violin Makers, W. Meredith Morris. London: Robert Scott, 1920. Page 222, scan 276. Held as more than one scan.
PLANE, WALTER, Glasgow: 1804-79. Strad model. The workmanship is good, but the varnish is a hard spirit one, and the tone loud and metallic. He is said to have made a few superior instruments, but I have not seen anything by him which could be described as "superior."
A dictionary of violin makers, Stainer, C. (Cecie). London: Novello, n.d. Page 73, scan 83.
Plane, W. Working in Glasgow about 1850 60.
