JACOBUS STAINER, ABSAM, 1662
Number 7954. Typical of this famous master's work. Due to considerable repair work being necessary to place this instrument in first-class order, we are offering it at a moderate figure. This violin is, however, thoroughly genuine in all parts, including the scroll. The restoring has been very artistically performed and as a consequence it will serve for another century at least. The back is formed by two pieces of curly maple with sides to match. Top: fine grain spruce. Varnish: a brownish red. The tone is very mellow and is of ample power for concert work.
Price: $1,000
P. GRANCINO, MILANO, 1680
Number 7770. Flat model. Back: two pieces of handsome maple with sides to match. Top: spruce of wide grain. The violin is in excellent order and possesses a large tone of a lovely character. It is covered with a handsome brown varnish. An excellent solo violin.
