VOLUME XXIII.
The present volume of the Akron City Directory contains, in the alphabetical list, the names and addresses of twenty-two thousand five hundred and fifty-three (22,553) individuals (the names of married women in brackets not included), an increase of 1129 names over 1899.
At the usual ratio of two and one-half to one name this indicates a population for Akron of Fifty-Six Thousand Three Hundred and Eighty-Two (56,382), an increase of 2822 since the last issue.
Owing to a larger proportion of unmarried persons, "boarders," "roomers," etc., than in former years, the above estimate may be a little too large, however, we feel sure that it cannot be over three or four thousand too much, which would still leave the population of our city well above the fifty thousand mark.

We have in the Barberton department 2,367 names, indicating a population of 5,917, a remarkable increase over last year. Cuyahoga Falls shows 1,567 names, which would indicate a population of 3,917 for that village.
We desire to thank our friends for their generous patronage, and to announce that the next volume will be issued in June, 1901.
Respectfully,
THE PUBLISHERS.
