1PUBLISHER'S ANNOUNCEMENT.
3With the edition of 1895 begins the issue of an Annual Directory for Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. The nature of the residents of the twin cities, the frequent removals of families to and from them on account of the educational advantages which each offer, makes such a publication necessary. During the year 1894 at least one-fifth of the families in each city changed their residence and nearly one-tenth of the names in the '95 edition are those of persons who have moved to the cities since January 1st, 1894. The many advantageous features of the former editions of this series as compared with publications issued by other parties is apparent. Among the most notable improvements of this over the book of 1894 are, a complete revised map of Ypsilanti, the present residence of all families removed from the city during the last year; the descriptions and locations of streets in the House Directory, together with names of all intersecting streets; the transposition of Miss and Mrs. which gives all given names the appearance of strict compilation, and many minor changes which are of great benefit to persons seeking information from its pages.
5A complete county book will be issued alternate years and an extraordinary effort made to make the information as complete as that of the City and Village portions. A personal canvass will be taken of the whole county if deemed necessary to attain this end. In after publications the same pains taking spirit will be manifested as has been shown in this work and each succeeding edition will be marked in improvement and reliability.
