8These short pieces are not symphonies in form; the title is used to indicate the concerted character of the music, which is melodious and interesting as a preparation for chamber music, which should be the goal of every young player. The music for the two violins is of about equal difficulty, the piano part also being easy. Bowing, fingering, phrasing, and other essentials in interpretation have been added by the editor.

33An interesting and valuable feature of this work is the excellent part for a second violin, also in the first position. This should be studied and played. It is not a matter for the teacher alone. It is good for the beginner to play second violin parts, one reason being that he is unaccustomed to playing on the lower strings, and will frequently play out of tune if given anything out of the ordinary to do.
