3SIVORI, whose death, on 18th February, 1894, the violin world long deplored, was, like his illustrious master, Paganini, born at Genoa, the day of his birth being June 7th, 1817.* All authorities agree in giving him the premier place among modern Italian violinists who have charmed the world since the days of Paganini. When the latter heard the boy, Sivori, play he was so fascinated by the promise he showed, that he took him under his wing, taught him all that it was possible to teach, and wrote a set of six violin sonatas
