1While we are passing the characteristics of the different masters and their works in review, it must not be forgotten that no one instrument is exactly like another, precisely as one egg never resembles another; and more often very strongly marked differences exist between them. If this were to be denied, it would have almost to be presumed that every maker was born a master of his art. The struggle for perfection naturally involves making a new work better than the last, and a variation will be found in every improvement.
