A town on its own line is one of the directory's headings. That is where the town on a maker's page comes from.

Arthur Nikisch,
Conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leipsic Gewandhaus Orchestra and formerly of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, writes as follows regarding the Mason & Hamlin Pianos:
MASON & HAMLIN CO., LEIPSIC, April 10, 1899.
Dear Sirs—During my residence in America, and while I was conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as you are aware, your pianos were played by eminent soloists on several occasions, and on every occasion they appealed to me as truly artistic instruments. Their tone is broad and big, and possessed of purely pianistic quality, resonance, vigour, and manly, yet full of sympathy and capable of a nicety of expression, which is remarkable for its delicate light and shade. I believe your pianos to be of the very first rank, and the artist must necessarily feel a sense of gratification to you for making possible the means for an expression of his profound and deep or his right and fanciful feelings. I am one of two readings
