Read from the Google Books page image on 12 August 2026. Poidras compiled his contemporary American entries from what makers supplied about themselves; W. Scott Herman and his “Washington Violin Hospital” are otherwise unattested in the corpus. The entry gives no dates. Its closing “N° 855” cross-references his label facsimile on the plate leaf facing p. 256. The same page opens the U section — Uhlschmid, then Ullmann, with no Ulbrich between them.
