INTRODUCTORY
This is the thirty-first issue of the Sacramento Directory. The publishers have spared no pains nor expense to make this Directory superior to any previous issue, and we desire to thank all who have contributed to its success, either by generous patronage or co-operation in furnishing information to our enumerators. The information is up-to-date and has been obtained by men carefully trained in this work.
POPULATION
The Federal Census in 1920 gave Sacramento a population of 65,857, but in addition to the territory taken in by the census enumerators, the Directory has taken in North Sacramento, Broderick and considerable territory beyond the city limits on the south. Consequently the Directory estimate of population is in excess of the Federal Census. The present volume contains by actual count 85,074 names, exclusive of married women and children, single women without occupation, and also Orientals. Using the multiple of 2 1/2, which is in general use by directory publishers, this gives an estimated population for Greater Sacramento of 87,685.
Respectfully,
SACRAMENTO DIRECTORY CO.
