16Consists of two main supporting bars, for each six inches in width, on which rest the grate sections, from twelve to eighteen inches long and six inches wide. The contact of the grate sections with the supporting bars is so slight that very little heat is conducted down to them, consequently they will not burn out. When the sections burn out they can be replaced at night work, without replacing the entire grate.
