INTRODUCTION
The present volume constitutes the 41st edition of the Saginaw City Directory. The work embodies a complete epitome of the civic, commercial, social and industrial interests and activities of the municipality. It is a modern Directory in all its parts and includes all of the essential features which have proved so satisfactory to our patrons in previous issues. Those features have been retained and amplified, and improvements have been added as suggested by experience in order to add to the value and usefulness of the Directory, thus fully meeting the requirements of patrons. The approbation and continued patronage accorded the work are constant incentives to better service.
The publication has had the benefit and advantage of the complete organization of the publishers, and of the skill and experience of their corps of enumerators and compilers, in the production of the volume.
The statistics presented following this introduction, are impressive as indicating the wealth, industry and culture of the city, and of the territory of which Saginaw is the center.
The Directory has several distinct departments, which are arranged in the order following:
THE MISCELLANEOUS DEPARTMENT is contained in pages 15 to 32; it comprises data concerning city and county officials, Federal officers, schools, postoffice data, ward boundaries, etc.
THE BUYERS' GUIDE occupies pages 33 to 88. This section of the Directory, printed on tinted paper, includes numerous advertisements of the leading manufacturing, business and professional interests of Saginaw. They have been carefully grouped by departments and are indexed under classified headings and otherwise in various parts of the Directory. A casual perusal of these advertisements will picture many interesting phases of the city's activities.
THE ALPHABETICAL LIST OF NAMES of citizens and business concerns is embraced in pages 89 to 661.
THE STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE AND DIRECTORY OF HOUSEHOLDERS is included in pages 665 to 816. This department embraces a list of all the Streets and Avenues in the city, alphabetically arranged; the houses and buildings being placed in numerical order, with the name of the occupant or householder placed opposite each number.
THE CLASSIFIED BUSINESS DIRECTORY is contained in pages 817 to 907; this department exhibits the various manufacturing, mercantile and professional occupations compiled in alphabetical order by headings and this feature constitutes an invaluable and indispensable epitome of the business interests of the community. "The Directory is the common intermediary between Buyer and Seller."
Thanks are extended to the citizens of Saginaw in general and particularly to the executives and business men of the city for their courteous help and co-operative support, without which the publication of this Directory would not have been possible.
