Miss Cora W. Jenkins, Director
The Jenkins School of Music, Oakland, California, one of the most widely known educational institutions in the State enters upon its twentieth year with a splendid record of achievement and unbounded possibility for broadening and extending its influence.
So rapidly has the school grown that several new teachers of national reputation have been added to the advanced department in Piano, Violin and Cello, and young teachers are constantly in training for the children's work under Miss Jenkins' direction.
Educationally the school stands for the highest ideals, three avenues being open to students:—study for the love of study, for the profession of teachers, or as solo performers on their chosen instruments.
The Pianoforte department is under Albert Elkus (pupil of Harold Bauer, Joseph Lhevinne); Associate Instructors, Mrs. Elsie Cook Hughes of London, State representative of Tobias Matthay pianoforte method and Miss Marion Coursen of New York, (pupil of Henry Holden Huss). Violin, under Albert Rorenthal, (pupil of Popper, Becker and Hekking); Associate Instructor, Arthur W. Black. Flute, under Louis Newbauer, of San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and Clarinet, under William Klein.
The graded classes for primary, grammar and high school students are under Miss Jenkins and corps of well equipped assistant teachers. Catalog on application.
