180. In the year 1770, Johann Georg Reichel (son of the before-mentioned violin and bass maker, Master Johann Adam Reichel) became master.
381. The Master-book closes with the record of the admission of the apprentice, Johann Gottfried Voigt, 10th June, 1772, third son of Master Simon Voigt. The closing words are "Soli Deo Gloria."
5When we look back on the long list of newly-admitted masters in the comparatively short space of 45 years, we must at once be struck by the difference between this period and that of the first 50 years. Among those of the last half-century we count altogether 30 families, seven old and 23 new; in the first only 15 new families, inclusive of the families of Goetzels not enumerated after the year 1761, when Adam Nürnberg from Klingenthal (who was engaged to a daughter of the Reichels) was admitted, no new parent stock was added to the Guild. Those admissions recorded in 1752 and 1759, viz.: those of Carl Friedrich Siebel and Carl Friedrich Kretzschmar were merely those of sons of families who were either magistrates or priests. Of the seven founders' families those of Poller, Knopf, and Rudert, have entirely disappeared, three each of the Schönfelder and Kurzendorfer families and one of the Pöpel attained mastership, whereas the Reichels contributed 12 new masters in addition to the 10 admitted in the first 50 years of the Guild, next to them of the older families stand in eminence the Voigts with seven new masters, the Pfretzschners and the Kretzschmanns each with six and the Fickers with five.
