1PREFACE.
3The present edition of the Directory contains some three thousand names more than have ever before appeared in the work. To all who cherish the prosperity of Boston, it will be gratifying to observe the progress annually made in the business of the city.
5Stimulated by the generous favor of the public, the annually augmented labor in compiling the Directory will continue to be entered upon with particular care to render it a true representative of the growing metropolis of New England.
7Our thanks are due to all who have aided us in preparing the work, and we trust our patrons will find in it a valuable equivalent for their favors.
