A first-hand account by the violin's then owner, not scholarship. The handwritten note inside the instrument is given only in her paraphrase — “reassembled and varnished by another Norweigian-American violin maker, Olav Breivik, in 1946” [sic] — and the photograph album the post links is a dead service, so the note itself has not been seen here. This blog entry, not the discussion thread that links it, is the document that names Breivik, Milwaukee and 1946.
