- DALLA CORNA (DELLA CORNA), GIOVAN GIACOMO, Brescia, b. about 1484, d. after 1548.
- DALLA COSTA, PIETRO ANTONIO, Treviso, 1700 to 1768. Dalla Costa modeled his violins after those of the brothers Amati and Stradivarius; his workmanship is particularly clean-cut. He used a brownish red or a yellow varnish, and worked in both Mantua and Venice from about 1720 to 1757. His name and label have been misused by inferior makers, but there are several genuine specimens of his art in the possession of European collectors and dealers.
- D’AMBROSIO, ANTONIO, Naples, 1820.
Named in one book, printed 1925. Read by software from scans of those pages, not yet checked by a person against the page.

Record note
Nothing on this site confirms this record beyond what one or more sources state, and that is the whole basis for it: An encyclopedia of the violin (1925); An Encyclopedia of the Violin (1926). No claim beyond that has been invented here, which leaves the record not established; tell us if you can change that.

How the pages were read
3 of the 3 lines here were read from machine text (software that turns a photo of a page into words), not by a person looking at the page image. 1 of them rests on a section heading above a list of names, not on a trade word printed on its own line: “VIOLIN MAKERS IN EUROPE”.
Notes
- Read from machine text (software that turns a photo of a page into words, or a typed transcription), not by a person looking at the page image. ↩
The books behind this record
This record draws on 1 source, read from machine text. The count weighs how well each source was read, not just how many are cited. A stack of half-read sources does not outweigh one page read properly.
