- FF were placed lower than usual and very open. For the violins the wood was particularly well selected, with a close grain. Orange and gilt-yellow varnish, very fine and supple. He made instruments of different models, generally small and narrow in the chest. Edges curving up, narrow and long corners. No 239.
- GUARNERIUS (Pietro I) — Cremona and Mantua 1655-1728.
- Born in Cremona. Eldest son and pupil of Andrea. When he was 25, he left his father's workshops to establish himself at Mantua. He is supposed to have worked at Venice where, presumably, he died in the year 1728. His instruments, generally a little arched and adorned with a thick red or transparent brown-yellow varnish, are excellent in quality of tone, but lack in volume, the tables not always having the necessary thickness. The model is fine and large, the sound holes also being large. The scroll, broadly treated, is original. Corners gracefully elongated. Very regular purfling. Guarnerius scroll. No 241.
- GUARNERIUS (Pietro II) — Cremona and Venice 1695-1760.
Named in 3 books printed between 1886 and 1928. Read by software from scans of those pages, not yet checked by a person against the page. Entries from 3 books stand under this name, and the software judged them likely the same person. Tell us if that is wrong and we will split the record.

Record note
Not established is the honest state of this record: it rests on one or more sources naming this maker, and nothing else on this site confirms it. Printed in: Dictionary of Violin makers (1928). No claim beyond what those sources state has been invented here; if you can add to it, we want to hear from you.

The books behind this record
This record draws on 3 sources, all read from machine text. The count weighs how well each source was read, not just how many are cited. A stack of half-read sources does not outweigh one page read properly.
