    5. Henry. A violin bow maker, b. 1812 at Mirecourt; d. 1870 at Paris. He left Mirecourt for Paris in 1837, and first worked with Chanot, then with Peccate. Was partner of Simon, 1848-51, then worked alone, first at 8, rue des Vieux-Augustins, later in the rue Pagevin. His bows are excellent, he marked them "Henry, Paris." He was no relation to the Henrys of rue Saint-Martin.

    2. HENRY, Jean Baptiste, b. 1757-1831, Mataincourt, Mirecourt (Vosges). He was the head of the present family of makers.
    3. HENRY, Jean Baptiste Félix, eldest son of Jean Baptiste Henry. 1793-1858. Paris. Pupil of his father; in Bordeaux, 1822; in Marseilles, 1825. In 1844 he returned to Paris. A prolific maker, but never signed.
    4. HENRY, Octave, son of Jean Baptiste Félix Henry. 1826-54. Paris. In Grenoble in 1854; made a great many violins.
    5. HENRY. A violin bow-maker; 1812 at Mirecourt; 1870, Paris; worked with Chanot; made excellent bows.
    6. HILDEBRANDT, Michael Christopher. Hamburg, 1765-1800; good work; fine repairer.
    7. HILL, Henry Lockey, son of Lockey Hill; grandson of Joseph Hill; b. 1774; d. Aug. 1835. (For Hill family see p. 133).

    2. HENRY (Eugène) — Paris 1843-1892. Son, pupil and successor of Carolus Henry. Excellent maker and clever repairer who was succeeded by Charles Brugère, 151, rue Saint-Martin.

    6. HOLDER (Thomas-James) — Paris. Son and pupil of Thomas Holder of London, who, like his father, has specialised in copying the old Italian masters. Contemporary maker, established at 14, place du Havre.
