    2. Vgl. auch Acero. — Sapino heißt Tannenholz; auf der Innenseite einer Decke fand man das mit Bleistift geschriebene Wort, das der Finder nicht verstand und für einen Namen hielt. Bald wurde dieser Sapino einer Schule zugewiesen und in die Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts gesetzt; schließlich wurde er zum Schüler von Cappa ernannt, Saluzzo zu seiner Heimat gemacht, und es dauerte nicht lange, da fand man bei Händlern sogar verschiedene diesem Sapino zugeschriebene Violen und Violinen, selbstverständlich mit Zettel! Daß selbst Vidal, der doch die Wortbedeutung von Acero und Sapino kannte und mitteilte, diesen fingierten Meister noch aufzählt, entbehrt nicht eines gewissen komischen Beigeschmacks.
