1THE Partello COLLECTION
3FERDINANDUS GAGLIANO, NAPLES, 1782
5Number 7942. Many choice examples of this master's work have from time to time occupied our vaults. This particular specimen however is the most beautiful example of the work of Ferdinandus Gagliano known to us. For many years it formed part of the world-famous Partello collection. In recent years it was the solo violin of a prominent member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The back of the instrument is formed of a single piece of very beautiful maple with sides to match. The top is of fine grained spruce. The model is broad and flat and the instrument is covered with an orange red varnish. The tone is of an exceedingly rich quality and of such power as to fill the largest concert hall. The instrument is in a magnificent state of preservation.

9MICHAEL DECONET, VENICE, 1764

The top is of spruce of medium grain. The varnish is of a lovely orange red color. The tone is exquisite. An ideal quartet instrument. This viola is in a splendid state of preservation. It is formerly of the Partello collection.

A magnificently playing bow. It is in a perfect state of preservation and one of the very choicest specimens from the Partello collection. The stick, while well balanced, is above the average weight.
