WOHLFAHRT, FRANZ
Easy Method for Beginners in Violin Playing. Op. 38
Edited by Benjamin Cutter.
(Ditson Edition, No. 46)
Size, 9 1/4 x 12 1/4; iv + 43 pp.; paper; .75
This method is devoted wholly to the first position and to the fundamentals, moving forward by small and sure steps. Unessentials are excluded and plain playing, plain bowing and plain fingering are insisted upon in creating habits that are the basis of good playing. The exercises are tuneful, and the second violin parts for the teacher, or the pupil in review, are clever and remain in the first position.
