SAGINAW
The Commercial and Industrial Metropolis of Northeastern Michigan—A City Determined to Forge Ahead.
(By Saginaw Board of Commerce)
The City of Saginaw, judicial seat of Saginaw County, fourth largest city in the State of Michigan, is located in the central portion of lower Michigan, on the Saginaw River, approximately 85 miles northwest of Detroit and 15 miles from Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron.
Saginaw is an industrial center, producing a diversified line of manufactured articles, in addition to being the commercial center of the rich agricultural surrounding territory.
The population of Saginaw, as determined by the 1920 census, is 65,648, a large portion of which consists of skilled industrial workers, who are home owners, less than twenty per cent of whom are of foreign origin.
The city is served by three steam railways—namely, the Pere Marquette (5 divisions), Michigan Central and Grand Trunk Railroads. Electric interurban service to Bay City, Flint and Detroit.

INDUSTRIAL ADVANTAGES
Saginaw is located within easy shipping distance by good roads, electric and steam lines and water from Detroit and other industrial centers making it easy for industry to manufacture here and set down at points many miles away the finished product at no loss of time and at a greatly lessened cost of production. Supplementing this is contented labor.
One great asset in the location of new industries is the accessibility of bituminous coal which is taken from many mines located under and within a few miles of Saginaw, hydro-electric power which comes down from the great dams and harnessing stations of the Au Sable River, and the fact that salt and its allied ingredient chemicals in the brine are taken from the earth.
